Exclamation Gfx Card

i have a leatek a310 nvidia geforce fx 5600 and i wanna know how much i can overclock it by also las time i overlcocked it i got a freze then it went fuzy and restarted my comp and loads of smily faces etc came up on boot up you know like old computer viruses anyway disable agp fastwrite got ride of that but i still wanna know what a safe overclocking speed

Raiden01, there is no exact border for a safe overclocking speed. You should increase the speed step by step, and simply test the result. An agressive timing [radical overclocking] will damage your card, so you need to be patient. Thats all you need.

That is correct, raise your mem/core by 5-10 per step and run a stability test (3dmark would do).

I know this take alot of time and patience like Galway said, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

i got a better idear how about not overclocking it whow i like the sound of that but i still wanna know both times i got these shaped virus old computer things acurd when i overclocked it so was it nothing to do with agp fast writes

Question

What Detonator drivers are you using? I ask because I am using the 44.03 and they (the drivers) will actually set the safest overclocking speed for your card. This is what I have done w/my 5900 Ultra and I have had no problems w/my card since the drivers overclocked it for me. To be able to do this, you must first set the overclocking tab using Riva Tuner or NV Hardpage, then just let the drivers do the rest.
