Air Filters

Ya, so now that most of us have a handle on heat, an o'cers worst nme, I was wondering if you use some sort of filters infront of you're intake fans to filter out the dust. What kind of filters do you use?

Re: Air Filters

Hmm, right here this guy used scotch brite pads and duct tape to fix his problems.

Another guy also used scotch brite pads to filter his dust too. Sounds like this is what I will use.

Re: Air Filters

better use a car air filter, adapt it to the intake fans. They're made with some kind of special "paper" so it wouldn't be too difficult to adapt them.

You can easily snap a piece off and remove the filter to clean it, then just snap it back on. If you let it sit, it will get clogged and block too much airflow.

Re: Air Filters

I found some scub pads under the sink last night and taped them in the front of my case. They are kinda like scotch brite pads, but they will do. I will check the dust right now to see if they are doing anything .

Re: Air Filters

I think I'll try something similar for my new comp. With duct tape you can do anything! I could always buy a k&n car air filter and use that since it uses cotton gauze for the filter element . They filter out dust and other stuff really well and they have a lot more air flow than normal car filters (that's why the hp in a car jumps up by 10-20 when you put one in). I don't think they are too cheap tho, probably $30-50 but they probably would work really well.

If you're low on cash you can use a coffee filter.
