argh....

wel.... i've been "blessed" with fixing my friends computer
she sent it to where she got it to get it fixed...
but then i told her i can..
ok... onto the point
she wants win2k on there but then when i load the cd, it won't read
then something bout boot magic...
so i borrowed friends win98 startup disk
(going to install 98 then win2k)
managed to format the c drive.... but when i tried to make it bootable ( sys c: ) it doesn't copy correctly...
get my problem? basically... i can't get win98se to install to get win2k because cd drive messed, floppy is messed.... or i'm gettin more stupid

Does the CD work on other drives/comps? Maybe the CD is bad.

You sure you have "cd boot" enabled? The win2k disc should be bootable, then its easy as pie from there on.

So, that didn't work eh?

For your win98 related problem, why bother doing ' sys c: ' for? Use the 98boot disc; format the drive and run windows setup, windows installs fine, the drive becomes bootable regardless.

Hope any of that helps.

BTW, some MBs have problems with booting from cd and HD. Try to disable the HD from the boot sequence altogether, and see if that works, after the install you just have to enable the HD back to boot. (this is a stupid problem, i know )

>then something bout boot magic...

ewww, boot magic. You might want to use a program to restore yoru MBR to the OS default, that could be causing your problem. I only know how to do it off Windows XP and Windows 2000, not 98.
