CD-ROm slow downs...

guys i have this CDrom for about a year and a half...

at first it ran pretty well... 52x maxspeed...

but now it can only run in a speed of 8x!!

what happened?

As long as it does it job of reading CDs it should be fine. That 52X rating is usually not attainable in real-world usage.

yeah but installation coming from a cd takes a decade to finish...

yeah sa 43.45 nakuha yan...

my only problem is when i install back 43.45 i cant see the advanced tab on the video settings...

the problem is your CD-ROM or denotator drivers? for your CD-ROM most cd-cleaner can't clean CD-ROM very effective, I usually open my CD-ROm case and clean it manualy but of course... it is very dangerous. how old is your CD-ROM?

About the cdrom check if you have enabled dma. And be sure to check if you accidentally didn't use any program that can lock up your drive to a determined speed.

just buy a new one, they cost 20 usd and those are the branded one's 15 for the generics(btc,affrey), would'nt hurt to replace your old cd-rom and beside's your old one has already served you well
