Problems with my sound card... or something...

Hey guys. Yesterday I was playing with the wire that goes from the pc to the speakers, and after some plugs and unplugs, one speaker stopped working. So I checked if the speakers were the problem, but they worked fine... so... I opened my pc to see where did that hole where I put the speaker wire go to... and it goes to some little yellow box that says: "made in china"... you know... the box that has the connectors (is that the word?) for audio in, audio out and microphone... So... is there a way to solve this or do I have to buy a new sound card?

loose wire or a hotwire on whichever side of the speaker isnt working, just change it, no need for you to doctor your soundcard internally. And put the slider on the middle of the L and R balance(prog>accesories>entertainment>volumectrl.)

Some cable its not ajusted properly, thats all. If you have those speakers where you connect only one and the other one is connected to the first one, try moving that cable until you get sound.

This can be caused by several things, I have an issue with my sound and prologic reciever its basically just my splitter is screwed up. Generally its not the PC hardware but the wiring itself. Your best bet is just to replace it.

My guess would be bad wires.

are you sure that is not a wire problem? I don't think sound card can damage just beacuse you plug, unplug it. try to unplug the sond card then plug it again.

I've done that... I plugged the wires and my speakers to my cd player and both of them sounded... sooo... what's next? It's not a wire problem, I can assure you that

Sometimes when you plug and unplug a lot you make the wires no to fit as they should so you can try hearing a music and while doing that move the wire until it sounds good.

The volume control is ok... and I've left the wires in their original position for over two days now... and.... nothing happens... I'm getting scared...

Hey...no point to be scared over a small matter like this. IIRC, sound cards are rather cheap....
Or try switching the sound card between comps or pci slots...

I believe this sound card was integrated to the motherboard... and I have no idea on how to remove it.

You cant. Have ypou tried what i said? I used to have plug my pc to my stereo system. But then i started changing my system from to placeto place and one day it happened like you. Still happens. Sometimes im playing and one speakers is not heard or the sound its weird. So i just open winamp and play a music and meanwhile i try to move the wire while i keep it in place until it sounds good again... just a suggestion.

Even if you have an integrated one, you can still add a pci one. Just PnP (plug & play)

If you are referring to pci, any card that you buy right now its pci.
A really good solution its soundblaster live. It has a good sound and a low price too.

That's what I thought too. But I managed to just PnP the SbLive. Then when I removed it, the integrated one automatically enables itself

... so... any pci card is plug and play or just SbLive? I was planning on getting that one... is it too hard to install? I've heard that the drivers suck, though...
