win ME and my monitor -_-

well, my monitor is supposedly to support only up to 1024*768@75hz but I found that it works in 1280*960@75hz so I wont need to use FSAA on all my games, anyway I could do that on winXP, but seems like winME reads what can my monitor handle, and it wont let me use 1280*960 unles I start windows whit my monitor off, it will read the monitor as "default" and I can use 1280*960 but... (here comes the problem)

it will only use 60hz as refresh rate (wich I hate) for all resolution...
so, can anyone tell me how can I do to winME not read the monitors limit?

Im using winME, compaq v50 monitor and the compaq v90 drivers (that let me do what I want on XP)

thx in advance ^^

Must be a cheap monitor you're playing around with. higher than what it can handle will burn a hole through it

did you try to set the refresh rate to optimal in the display properties?

yup, I did
the thing is that it wont let me choose the 1280*960 option in the properties (it goes up to 1024*768)

I guess you can always disable PnP support somehow in windows ME, and use the default monitor.

ehrm like I said using the default monitor will use only 60Hz refresh rate (wich makes me get out of my PC after one hour) and the plug&play support doesnt make any difference -_-

go to display settings>advanced>monitor tab>uncheck hide modes that monitor cannot display
you should get a load of reso's and your choice of refresh rates
dunno if that helped tho...

That is an XP setting. My only suggestion is to go the manufacturer's website, and seeing if htere is an updated driver. Even if said driver doesn't officialy support said refresh rates, you can always modify the ini so it can.
