Post code on an abit VH6-II :help:

I recently put a computer together I final got the LED settings right but now all I get is post code when I boot up, it has just long beeps. any help on what this post code means is much welcomed. thnx!!

Edit: I know it isn't top of the line or new but would it be a total waste of time putting together a comp. with an Abit VH6-II, a 733 athlon (can handle a larger processor), 1gig of SDRAM, still confused weather the agp is 2x or 4x, 4 PCI, AMR, I also have an Internal zip, and a crappy 4x rewriteble drive.

Check and see if your Case Fans and CPU fans are working properly.. Abit mobos have options to warn, not boot, and shut down when fans aren't working or the CPU gets too hot.. Read the manual that comes with your new Mobo.. It should have the post codes listed..

Long beeps means either te video card or the ram isn't seated properly.

Try booting with an ISA video card if you have one, or a PCI. Did you clear the CMOS battery? Some settings may be wrong, like my mobo has a setting to boot from PCI or AGP first. If it is set to boot from PCI and I put an AGP card in I will get no video until Windows is booted.

In most cases, ISA video cards can be used as a last resort. That is if you have an ISA slot still.

Do you think the AGP is fried? or Possibly a Fried Ram slot?

If I try the ISA won't I still not get any video, cuz must mobos boot standard to AGP

Well try that first and if that doesn't work there's probably a ram problem.
