Now i'm the rich boy :P NEW PC for FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Finally, all my hard work has paid off. If some of you can remember when I first came here, I made a nice little thread concerning my absolutely terrible Dell PC from hell. Well it seems things have flipped around because after two nice 2 page letters and threatening them for a suite, I have finally beaten the gigantic corporations (cheer now)
That's right; today came my replacement PC. A Dell of course but not bad for something you didn't choose. I still have to get it set up but from the looks of it has a P4 3.06 CPU, Radeon 9700 (not sure if it's pro or tx), and 512MB of RDRAM (I don't think it's the PC800 kind)

I'll get it set up, borrow my neighbor's digi cam, and check back to you and tell you how it is I'm still going to build my own PC though, unless you ppl advise otherwise. TTUall L,
Vio

It's much more fun to build your own pc. Not to mention that you learn a lot too.

Cheers mate! Congrates to your new MONSTER comp!!!!! AFAIK, thats the fastest cpu available today and that 9700 (pro or np) is really all you need to play the latests games of next year . Now, time to tell some friends with name brand computers to start sending letters to the manufacturers .

Enjoy your new rig! I'd really like to know if HyperThreading is useful or not, and I'd like to know the temps on that sucker.

OK I finally cleaned up the room for the PC and set it up So the main specs are as follows:
Pentium 4 3.06 GHZ with hyperthreading (it actually says 3.05 also :S)
512MB RDRAM
ATI Radeon 9700 TX with TV out
Lite on 48x cdrom
NEC cdrw and dvd rom thingo drive (don't know how fast it is)
120GB WD 2MB probably, (not sure)

Couple more things though.

Number one, how the heck am I supposed to check the temp on a Dell PC?
and what would be the best/most accurate way to test speed with and without hyperthreading? Photoshop?
It was a real pain just to stick a second hard drive in there because there's 2 cd roms, 2 3.5 and a hard drive, and the cables are super short (not conventional) so I'm running with the case open. N64 games never looked better or played faster

Good for you Violineb. You certainly should feel like "a Rooster on a fence" in that you have something to "Crow" about. I would keep you wonderful new computer and just forget about building your own. Yours beats mine, at least CPU wise, and I'm very pleased for you. I'm also very pleased that you taught Dell a much needed lesson. These "Giant" corporations need to lear that they can't walk all over the consumers and get away with it. After all, with out "us consumers" where would they be. Way to go man!
sincerely,
sx/amiga

For temps and such, try looking on google for a program called "Motherboard Monitor." For an HT test, try running 3dmark while encoding divx or run 3dmark while running sandra/superpi versus running one of those alone.
