I would say that it is a very good move. You should find that the 4200 will "outstrip" the mx 440 in everthing. If you got it at a resonable price as well, then that is another plus. I think you did the right, proper, and smart thing. Enjoy your new card.
sincerely,

With the new card you'll be able to enjoy DX8 graphical features, and it runs much faster as well. Definately a good buy if the price was right, how much did it cost anyway?

Don't bother with the 8x AGP if you're stuck on budget.
Btw, 12si is against geforce 4 ever since he got his r9500pro

I know how you feel man.. That's how I fealt when I didn't have the money to upgrade my comp and was stuck with a lowly amd k6-2 533 mhz cpu.. But now that I do have money to upgrade stuff, I realize my feelings were wrong.. People have the right to enjoy spending their money, even if it seems a little excessive to buy upgrades that don't make a lot of difference..

But remember that these new barton core athlon Xp chips are clocked higher, and have higher clocked FSB(333mhz), and perform noticeably better than what SX and I use to have.. I actually see a noticeable improvement in my emulated and PC games with my new cpu..

Depends what speed AMD you get. AMD is the best bang for buck in the low and mid range. If you want High end, Intel is currently king.

im checking with my buddy at a store but these guys always mark up allkinds anyway if i do anyting it wouldent be in awhile

If I had a P4 1.6A I would overclock it. At 133 Mhz FSB it'll be at 2.1 Ghz. The P4 'A's are easy to overclock, as they run on a slower 100 Mhz FSB. Just a friendly suggestion.

Thanks for the apology KINDRED. As fivefeet8 said, there is a noticable improvement w/the new barton core AMD CPU. To me, that was not spending money needlessly, the speed and performance I am now getting are well worth the price. I don't have Unreal 2, but when I test some others that I have, I'll let you know how they do.
sincerely,

Hey try not to get an AMD now.
Heard they ain't no longer using socket A's (rite rite??)
Maybe wait for the new sockets to come out, then consider
Btw, yeah p4's are sweet for overclocking. Don't bother with a new cpu upgrade. Just o/c it.

The Athlon 64 will be on a new socket. The last of the K7 cores will remain on Socket A
