buildin a pooter for my mom

First of all, all she uses it for is mainly word processing and using accounting software, so it doesn't need to be a speed demon (and since my parents have some strange fear of AMD, that pretty much narrows down the cpu selection to a celey). The only 2 things I'm not sure about are mobo and psu. I know little about celey mobos, and the only chipset I'm sure even exists are the 815's. Also, because of the mobo uncertainty, I don't know if I should get integrated or agp graphics. As for the psu, I don't have a clue how powerful of one will be needed. I'm also a little unsure of the decent brands out there. I'll probably need a new case and heatsink too, but that shouldn't be hard. Bear in mind I'm on a budget, which basically is make it as cheap as I can. Here's what I'm reasonably sure of so far (monitor, mouse, cd-rw, and keyboard are about the only things worth saving from the old pooter):

cpu -- 1.2Ghz celey
mem -- 256mb PC133
hd -- 20GB Maxtor
graphics card (if needed) -- GF2 MX200 32mb

A 300-350W psu should be fine. If it won't be pushed to the limits, a generic one will be fine too.

You can get the QDI Advance 10F for about $45 and it has the via ple133 chipset (among the best for socket370 cpus), it doesn't have anything onboard AFAIK. If it's just a business PC get something like a K6-2, it'll do the job great and will cost you boatloads less (you'll have to convince them amd pwnz tho)

well, like I said, it's for my mom, and she abosolutely won't get an AMD for some strange reason. Thx for the mobo suggestion, I'll look into it.

why? give more detail.... oh BTW - he getting a celly, not a p3.

personally, the 815ep chipset is fine for celly's (I've had no problems). MAKE SURE YOU GET THE "EP" chipset - 1.2ghz celly's run on a voltage lower than the 815 non "ep" can provide.

Oh and a celly system will run on even a 225watt psu (aslong as your not using a r9500> or gf fx)

always(almost) intel makes the best chipset for their procesors but at what cost he is building a computer for word procesing and nothing else so why he should buy a gorgeus intel mainboard if he is not getting any benefits from it??????????
