I need something to make my HD faster

dont know, lately Im feeling that my HD is becoming a little slower

can anyone give me tips on how to increase speed?

another question, does the cluster size have anything to do whit it?

You implement RAID-0 disk striping-nyo.

But if you don't have a controller-nyo, just use FAT32-nyo.

Your mobo doesn't support ULTRA ATA/66-nyo? If it does, you gotta use an Ultra ATA/66-capable 80-conductor cable as well-nyo.

SL, Convert to NTFS and use Disk compression. It will actualy speed up performance.

I would try defragmenting the disk and compressing it like others suggested. Also make sure DMA is enabled. I think that's the most you can do with your current hardware.

well NTFS disk compression compresses the data on the drive lightly (In relation to zipping or RARing everything). This means that for a 10 meg file, only say 8 or 9 megs needs to be accessed off the drive. The speed of todays CPUs masks the CPU time needed to decompress, resulting in higher performance in bandwidth limited situations.

BTW, my mobo doesnt support ATA66 (thats why i use ATA33), im on Windows ME (so i cant use NTFS), but those tips are really handy

any registry tweaks or something? I dont know a lot of registry tweaks, so if anyone can give me tips ^^

Download Regcleaner ten run the automatic registry error checking. As for your mobo not supporting it.. WTF? A Socket A mobo not supporting ata-66? Guess that 810LMR really is a piece of ****, as my 825LU supports ata-133.

As the Windows ME built-in defragger is pretty cr@p (constant restarts at 10 %...), I recommend Diskeeper Lite...Its a toned down version of Diskeeper 7 that does its job surprisingly well (fast and thorough). Just do a search for it on Google and you'll find it. Try it and you'll never turn back again.
