Arrow *Kicks his K7VZA to the curb*

After tons of troubles with it, the damn thing finally pooped out.

As a replacement i got a Amptron Mobo with the Via KM266 Chipset, which thankfully supports DDR. Now i just need some money to get some DDR.

Actually i didn't OC when it burned up. I just turned it on and got nothing but a black screen. Oh well, this mobo is like 4x faster.

when i overclock, i push it to the limit. So far nothing bad happened, cooliscool your one unlucky fellow. Best wishes on your new board. My duron 750 is now running at 910 w/ my fsb at 140 mhz. My old amptron mobo can only go at 106fsb on a default 100 fsb cpu.

Doesn';t sound like a chipset error. And when you did your CPU thing in MIRC you were always OCed.

Just seems the motherboard fried. That is all ^^

So you didn't have a ton of trouble with it. The Board just died

K7VZA definately won't do 140 FSB I'm surprised your PCI devices are even stable~

yep, this cheap mobo supports pci voltage, just upped it a little and voila rock solid. I did notice my sblive getting a tad hotter than it usually is.

Errm i take that back. If he were to put the Athlon on a 133 FSB he could OC that to 145 FSB, But thats a huge OC for an Athlon thunderbird.

Actually i did have problems, it was way too slow to be an athlon. I tried everything but it seemed to slow. This board is noticeably faster, and supports DDR.

IRC Cwissy.

Among speed, i had gotten lockups (even w/o ocing) when gaming i got the "snow effect" without ocing the videocard. all that's gone now, i guess those were warning signs.

A pic:

Yeah it lacks pci slots, big deal. All i have plugged into any slots is my Gf2 MX since i have onboard via lan and audio (which is pretty nice actually ).

edit: looks as if Amptron is a division of ECS. When i hit the motherboard ID button with sysmon script in mirc it says: <.cooliscoo.> Motherboard: ECS M825VXX

Unhappy

I hate to say this cooliscool, but I also think you fried your mother board by overclocking. The reason I say this is because I had a K7 board myself for some time. I used it with both my Athlon T-Birds the 1.2 and the 1.4 When I got my new board for my Athlon XPs I gave my K7 board to my friend who is still using it. Neither one of us has had a bit of trouble w/that board. Sorry to say, I feel that your board died an untimely and premature death. Another reason why I am against overclocking.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

I was thinking 'Ugh' for a second, then I thought : What do I use in my PCI slots....
In my machine is a GeForce 3, which would obviously stay in, my Voodoo 5, which could stay in, my Network card, which would become redundant, and my Audigy which could stay in.....

I don't doubt the possibility. Thankfully the Athlon survived.

Kane: hehe, yeah. 2 PCI and 1 4X AGP slot is enough for me since it has LAN and sound onboard (Lan: Via Rhine II), (Sound: Via AC'97 Audio). If i could get my SB Live! to work with it (doesn't detect it, strangely), then i'd use it, but for now this AC'97 is quite nice. Quality is good, nice amplification.

I couldn't cope withough my Audigy now. everything else just sounds so.... inferior.
Glad that you could still get something from the disaster.

I paid frickin $100 for the son of a beeeitch, i would expect it to be nice. I mean hell, i could have an Nforce board for that much. Oh well, this board supports all athlons on 200/266MHz FSB so it's upgradable.

It also has onboard 32MB 3d acceleration which i'll try out later.
