High Refresh Trails?

Ever seen faint trails on icons and such on the desktop when you have your monitor refresh set to about 80+Hz?

I don't really notice it too much but I was just wondering if it's just me or a common problem. It happens at my work computer and at home.

Right now I have a GF 440MX 64MB DDR on a ViewSonic G90f both running at 85Hz. Same thing on my work computer running an old TNT based video card on a Sony 15" Trinitron monitor and I get the same trail effect.

It looks like very faint transparent icons trailing the actual coloured icon much like how a mouse trail would behave, only that these trails are clear. It happens to other on-screen objects as well but not really noticable when you're paying attention to the actual screen content. The problem seems to go away at lower refresh rates of around 60-70Hz.

Are my eyes just going bad or is there something more to it?
