Angry On the edge!

Well after days of trying to work my way out of this problem, here I go. Every time I try to display something 3D XP gives me a blue screen saying usually nv4_disp.dll has given an error and the computer has to be shut down. I knew this was my display drivers so got some new ones from www.nvidia.com. I'm still getting the same problem. This all started after a Win98 WinXP dual boot disaster.

Also one time the error message was "IRQL bot equal or less" Whatever this means.

I hope someone out there can help me I'm going mad.

Well that's just the thing it was working well before. Well I don't know much about installing chipset drivers, but just incase this is the problem how would I go about doing it?

Thanks

Nope didn't work.

Look at this screen, could this have anything to do with the problem? I uninstalled 3 of them, but windows just detects and installs them again. I also tried disabling 3 of them, but still no change.
Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem mind.

You should uninstall all thoes monitors and do a complete uninstall of Nvidia drivers. Let windows reinstall your monitor. Then install the newest Nvidia drivers.

Yay that fixed it. Though now I'm having some serious problems with my Memory Management System. 200mb of RAM is used as soon as the PC is started. :eyes:

In the run bow type, "msconfig" (without the quotes). There you can manage what stuff runs when windows starts up. You should only remove what you are sure you don't need. Everyone's comp is different so I really can't help you out on what to keep and what not to keep.

Well the same things used to open, just some of the systems things take up more memory for some reason.
Oh and I thought it was fixed cause I managed to play Half-life without a blue screen, but the problem still remains.

That's the error I got and still get anyway to find out what this all means?

I only had nwiz, frees up a bit of memory but I'm pretty sure it's related to the graphics drivers. I'm guessing there are no other worthy alternatives to detenator?

OK sorry reviving this top, but it's better than a new one for the same thing.

I formatted my HD, reinstalled XP and now it doesn't display a blue screen with Direct X accellerated stuff, No it now restarts.
Until I solve this I want to uninstall DirectX problem is it has no uninstaller, any suggestions?

Windows XP is set to not show the blue screens and just restart. You can turn the blue screens back on by right clicking on My Computer and selecting properties, Advanced tab, Startup And Recovery Settings, then uncheck Automatically restart.

MANY people have this problem. i had it too, until i searched around the http://www.guru3d.com forums, and found a sticky thread about this. it has a link to a beta VIA patch that closes the RX55 memory register, which absolutely gets rid of the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. i'd attach the drivers myself, but they're on my PC, which my bro has taken away. you should be able to find it through guru3d forums.
btw, this problem has caused a lot of trouble to people, as they've come up with a lot of so called solutions, but none of them really worked. these included messing with AGP Aperture Size (which does help a little), editing the registry, patching the detonators with all kinds of stuff, etc etc. get this VIA patch and everything should be fine ^^
