Good Vcard for an old PC?

I just dug up a Diamond Viper V550 from inside my closet. I think it has 16MB of ram, and is an AGP card. Would it work good in a 400MHZ system?

It should. I mean if your not looking to pay any money it'll do decent but it won't be the best card for that system either.

I think a Voodoo 3 or a GeForce256 or TNT2 is good for an older system. I'm using my old Voodoo 3 16Mb in my 450Mhz system.

I say it's a good match. A TNT should do well with that system.

eh? If it is AGP then you should have no problem with a Geforce 2 MX or an older Radeon...we had one mounted in a 300mhz...so no worries

Look at my system!? It is 500 mhz and I have a GeForce 2 MX/400 64 MB video card and I can still run all the newer games. Not like Doom 3 or anything but quake and games that came out in 2001/2002 work great! But with a 16 mb card it will still run good but not anything like your current setup.

My old computers use TNT2 M64 32MB from inno3d but all the 3d games run very suck and slow although I use pentium III 933Mhz system, I think Winfast TNT2 is better than Inno3d.

Kirby, I ran that exact card for a number of years in similar computers. It's quite a nice match, although a Voodoo3 might do the job a lot better.

Well the Nvidia TNT was similar in performance to the Voodoo 2. It's no match for the TNT2 or Voodoo 3 but is still decent. You'll at least be able to play older PC games and emulation with 3D acceleration.

No there isn't. It was a typo.

hey you know whats weird? intel pentium3 1GHz, 1.2 and 1.4 GHz are faster than pentium 4 1.4 and 1.5. The pentium3 CPU also marketed way more expensive than those pentium4 chips. Sooo weird. I guess the 100MHz X quad pump isn't faster than 133 MHz CPU.

I had that exact video card in my old system (PIII 500) and it ran great. One of the best cards I ever owned. I overclocks very well too.

My old video card was an 8mb nVIDIA Vanta 3D agp! It actually worked fairly well and ran games at about 50 fps; the ones that were nice graphics. So in all some video cards that are old arent oo bad if you want to run older games like quake 3. and so on. I mean they still have great graphics but just not Doom 3 graphics.
