question about installing a new sound card
I'm thinking about purchasing a cheapo soundcard (GameSurround Muse 5.1 DVD for $30) so that the sound in Max Payne will work for me. On most other systems, I would just remove the old sound card, but I have a sound/modem pci card combo so I cannot remove it without removing the modem also. I know that if I delete the drivers for the sound card, everytime I start windows it will say that it has found new hardware. So, is there a way to disable my old sound card or choose the one I want to use? Will having two soundcards at the same time be bad for my system?

I don't think that having two soundcards will hurt anything. My brother in law uses 2 soundcards at once when doing DJ stuff, and I have booted my computer a few times with my onboard sound activated by accident, and it worked just fine.
If you want to get rid of the nasty thing though, just disable it in your device manager. |

hoyoyo80, I am not a fan of the pre-SB Live! sound cards from Creative. I used to run an AWE 64 Value, but when I got my Live!, I realized just how crappy it was. I would suggest paying the extra for some quality.

The AWE was good when it came out. I loved those old AWE designed games.

Old ISA cards can only reproduce 1 sound at a time if the app you're using doesn't mix them.

Who makes Winfast 6? Sounds like a generic brand or something.
