My CPU got hotter for no apparant reason.
It started yesterday. The CPU is running at 52c idle. It used to run at 47c whilst idle. Im using a Volcano7+ HS/F with the fan @5000rpm and Arctic Silver3 and a P4 2.53@ stock speeds. I've stopped overclocking it a few days ago before yesterday since Im not playing any PC games but this only started yesterday. Whats up? Any idea's? Should I contact Intel and request for a replacement? The heatsink is relatively hot too so it doesnt seem to be a reading problem.
![]() Thanks all replies. edit: Im not running any additional programs too. |

As long as the system's stable I wouldn't worry about it. My CPU runs somewhat hot as well but I give it no heed, as long as my system runs properly. You should only start to worry if you encounter instabilities.

My room temperature is about the same as before. Still it shouldnt run at 52c(sometimes 55) idle with a Volcano7+. Anyways, I guess youre right Demigod. I shouldnt worry too much.
Thanks for all your answers. |
