onboard sound on my HP?

When I first got my computer it had onboard and it really sucked(made buzzing noise so I bought me a Soundblaster Live X-Gamer 5.1 and when I started having trouble with it I decided to go with my onboard sound until I got it fixed...guess what neither my computer or windows xp recognizes it....what gives...I did get my SB working but I'm just wondering what happend to my onbord sound.

Well for one thing, did you install the proper drivers for it? It usually comes in the CD that came with your motherboard.

well you can disable onboard sound in bios, and jegHegy everything I put on my pc worked on xp (except from an old gamepad ) and I didn't even have to use the drivers that come with the hardware

check out m$'s own hardware comparison chart. they release it every month. windows 98's hw support is 100%, win2k's is about 96%, winxp's ~60%, win95's ~50%.

I just want to say I have an HP computer and those dumbasses have onboard souund on i think its every HP until 2000 or 2001 so if your computer is older than that then you are screwed like me. If you can get your hands on a sound card do it! it really does make a difference!

But as for your problem maybe you should try doing that live desktop thing you know where a technitian can guide you through setting it up on XP through your computer.

And what is exactly the problem cuz with my onboard sound it makes this really annoying scratchy disty noise and then i have to unplug my speakers to stop it. what is wrong with yours?
