I say go for GF4 MX if you're out of bucks, and a TI if you can afford it. And BTW, me myself wouldnt recommend ATIs.

im glad someone else feels the same way as me. lol. gotta love the cheap cards. I dont think I'll ever waste money going top of the line.

Just gotta remember, last year's model is dirt cheap and its still fast as hell for games. thats my rule on video cards.

I agree with vivrant, the MX and it's lack of DX8 is a big drawback. I say go with the Radeon 9000 or a even a GF3 as they are faster than the MX and have DX8. I'd probably go with the 9000 though if I were the one making the purchase.

I recommend getting a GF3 rather than a GF4 MX, or a Ti if you have the cash. However, I certainly would recommend ATi RADEON 9700 PRO, since from the benchmarks, it clearly beats GeForce4 by significant amounts. Plus it has features that GF4 don't have.

I sold my old GF2MX for 50 Dollars, and gave extra 40 dollars to get the new GF4MX440 64MBddr, it works pretty well.

Get a GeForce 4 Ti 4200, a little bit more expensive than the GF 3 Ti 200, but much more powerful!

erm, vivrant, i bet you misunderstood. It supports directx8 just perfectly, it just lacks pixel/vertex shaders, something that doesn't really matter to me.

ebola: glad to hear someone here agrees with me also

In my place, GF3 is damn expensive, but of course it's a bit cheaper than GF4TI.

You can pick up a good geforce ti 200 for around 100 bucks. Also the Radeon 9000 and 8500 are other good 100 dollar cards. Which ever one you find the cheapest, go for it. If you have an extra 50 go for the geforce 4 ti 4200. Don't ever buy value models of products. When you buy a card make sure you're getting rendering pipelines, it will be the most important feature to have in the oncoming year.

Rationally the 8500 gives the best features, peformance and quality for the money...currently

but you could also hang out with the big nvidia crowd and just get a geforce card...
