What exactly did you change during your computer upgrade?

Isn't that a ModemBlaster ??? I think they use the same Chipset... try downloading new drivers from them also... check your wiring.. maybe you have some noise in the line. Good Luck

The reported modem connection speed is dynamic and not static to what it shows at connection time. That speed that it reports it connected at was the speed for the INSTANT second the connection was made...it is constantly changing even after during your entire connection time. So that is of no real relevance.

As for the speed change...two things. Win2k and XP use Qos if i recall..it saves 10% of ur bandwidth for system use and can be disabled in the registry.

Also as usual, try the 'real' drivers, not the included ones in the win2k driver database.

Is your modem on a long extension line? I'm not sure but a extension line has a lower quility or something.

Or it could be a faulty modem.

cant be it..bad lines from the house to the modem node for the neighbor hood maybe..but a long phone cord int he room it self wont cause that much degrigation.
