Overclocked

I've got my card overclocked to 200mhz core and 350mhz memory with no extra cooling and the 3d mark 2000 scores keep on risin the last score is 4360
I realise however this could be a bit foolish how do i know if i'm goin to fry the board   cos i'd really rather not

A good place for info on clocking is www.overclockers.co.uk They also sell cooling units for cpus graphics cards etc and region free dvds. As to the settings that you have the way I would test it would be

1: use the machine in a normal situation for about an hour
2: play a graphics intensive game for about an hour
3: Leave the machine on and idle for about 4 hours.

If there are no graphics glitches or strange consistant crashes after this then the card is stable enough. However adding cooling could not hurt.

ok so what can i safely overclock it to the core must be ok i've only increased it from 186 to 200 that should be ok right,
the memory was 285 if i remember correctly.
It seemed stable enough tho at 350 i ran 3d mark 2000 several times with no crashes or graphic errors and there didnt seem to be any excess heat coming from the computer!!
Also if the puter is runnin but the card isn't being utilised much eg someone using the internet or a spreadsheet the board won't fry will it?? i won't be home for a couple of weeks and i'll have to get someone to change it if it will Thanks for all the help m8's oh yeah anywho is 4300 odd a good score for a 2 mx in 3dmark 2000?? and would the fact that my card is pci affect how much it can be overclocked.
Final question if i buy a new mobo in the states and a geforce3 will i be able to use them on my computer in ireland??? are american components designed to be used on their power source only cos it's different to ireland

I presume that American power supplies would still supply +/-5 volts and +/-12 volts so you should be ok getting that motherboard. You'd better check on the manufacturers website before purchasing though.

DUDE, do you mean from outside the computer?? 'cos if you feel any heat from outside the computer it's either built with vacuum tubes or it's going to blow!! So of course you shouldn't find any heat there!
If you worry that your graphics card is over heating, you should measure the temperature of the GPU on the card, inside your computer, NOT outside.

Too bad you bought the Creative Labs DDR version... Its only 64 bit memory, so in comparison to cards such as the Leadtek GeForce2 MX, with 128 bit wide memory, your cards memory is running at the eqivelent of 175mhz... Mine is overclocked to 210/210... compared to yours, its 210/420...

Anyways, you best be puttin on some active cooling... Or you card might start to glitch out.. and thats when you know its a gonner... i had a Voodoo 3000 do that to me... agrh.. the pain... the horror...

One more thing, anyone looking to buy a Creative Labs GeForce 2 MX, dont... Buy one with 128bit SDRam...

BTW: 3DMark 2001 is much more rigerous and will give you (anyone) even lower scores...
