I don't think it will.
They recently said that some technology(let's hope it's 3dfx's FSAA) from 3dfx would be used in their next generation card(codename NV30).

Just a quick bit...

Before i bought my GeForce 2 card, i had a voodoo 3500... I just swaped them out and went on my marry way... But the stranges thing happened, i am able to play glide games on my GeForce without any problem. Even the glide benchmarks, (eg wizmark) and games play in glide perfectly fine....

Intresting, isnt it?

Nope glide wrapers are basically emulators. They convert the glide instructions into opengl or D3D so that non glide cards can run on such programs. This takes resources away from the actual game and so if the game supports other modes these will usually be faster. They are only really useful for running glide only games.

For unreal download the latest patches and use either opengl or D3D. However opengl is buggy in unreal so stick with D3D if you can.

Forget it, if i remember correctly whilst 3dfx were alive they said themselves that they were ceasing development of glide in future 3dfx graphics cards (just before they went belly up) and that they would be focusing on OpenGL & Direct 3D.

So, the possibility of nvidia suddenly starting to make a glide api for their graphics cards is extremely unlikely.

Pity really, as i wouldn't mind running UltraHLE on my GeForce 2 GTS without the glide wrapper i am using crashing every other minute.

If the GLide libraries weren't uninstalled (VERY likely), that could be it. I don't see why it would work, but that is probably the beginning of the answer.

Also, NVidia wouldn't want 3dfx to live on like that, they'll do their best to kill GLide. I still hate them.

Glide is dying. I wish people would stop pro-longing it's painful death by asking for glide renderers for emulators, Glide API implementations on other cards. FFS people, it's a dead API.
There's not one thing that would merit keeping Glide alive on NEWER cards.

I am one of those people who keeps going back to old games.
The Need For Speed, Doom, Descent, Carmageddon...
As emulation is usually for older console/arcade games, I can assume many of you also like older PC games like I do.

It's not hard to find dozens of older games that support Glide only. Such as Carmageddon and NFS2se.

It'd be hard for me to cope with a newer card without this backward compatibility. And Glide wrappers are known to be slow and unstable. My next upgrade will very likely be a Voodoo 5 if no better card supports Glide.

Glide has outlived its usefulness.
Let it die. Just... let it die.

Well, like many have stated... Its a shame that the cards are not backwards compatable... But glide is dead. No 3DFX = No Glide.... I have allways belived that Glide was an inferior API compared to OpenGL...

Anyways, i reinstalled my System, without installing the 3DFX glide drivers and now none of my glide games will work in glide anymore. Maybe if i have spare time, i will try and throw back in my voodoo 3500 and see if i can get the games to work with my geforce again.

Which Glide Wrapers are you talking about? I tested many and no one was running....
