PIII800+TNT2PRO VS Celeron 1.2 + geforce 2
i am getting a new computer, woohooh! anyway, i was wondering if buying a celeron 1.2 ghz iwth 128MB ram and a geforce 2mx or geforce 3 ti200 would give me better performance in epsxe than my current PIII800 with 128MB ram and a TNT2PRO. I don't have much to spend (read: less than $800 )

1.2 Ghz Celeron will definately perform better than P3 800, other than the 400 Mhz increase, your gfx card will probably bottlneck on a Geforce 2 MX, but the Geforce 3 TI wouldn't. won't matter too much for emulation. I got a huge performance increase when I put a new 1.3 Ghz Duron in place of my 900 Mhz Duron, And changed my geforce 2 MX to a Geforce 4 MX |

well, fluffy, i did post in the right forum, since my question was how performance in epsxe would be affected. i think you administrators are really harsh sometimes. the implications of the post are completely epsxe related, imho

seriously tho, if I were u, I'd do basically wat fivefeet said. putting this stuff in ur cpu shouldn't be too difficult (the processor would probably be the hardest), but still, if u don't know wat ur doing, and don't know ne1 who does, I'd use the extra $200 to have some1 install the stuff u can't (the ram is pretty easy to install, so even if u don't have a clue about it, all u have to do is basically just slide it right in, not too difficult if u ask me). with the money left over from installation (if u buy the stuff from a major chain, they might even install some of the stuff for u for free or a nominal price) u should have enough money to buy Max Payne and Ghost Recon, two games no1 should be without.
