Fry's Electronics, near where i live has this card on sale for $219 US.
What do you all think? Is this a good deal and does anyone know if this card is good? I'd like to upgrade my video card and I want to make the right choice. Thanks for any help. ![]() sincerely. sx/amiga Last edited by sxamiga; February 28th, 2002 at 01:01. |

Is it a Ti 500? it's $249 right now at pricewatch, so i think it's a good deal.

I concur with Fivefeet8,
A geforce 4 ti 4200 would be a better upgrade than a GF3ti 500. The extra vertx shader definately an added bonus, and not to mention the dual RAMDAC's which allows you to run 2 monitors at once (something which I envyed about my old GF2MX card). |

Well, I got me a new video card last night. What I got is GeForce4 MX 440. It is called the Verto and is made by PNY. I installed it and tried it out last night and I saw immediate improvement in performance. I just downloaded the lastest VIA 4-in-1 drivers and I am going to install those tonight. Imagine, a GeForce4. It may be only an MX, but it is a GeForce4. Anyone interested in a nice used Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 GTS card?

I mean if you're happy with the performance gains, then by all means keep the card... however, I'd rather get a 'real' GeForce4 rather than the GF4MX... because it's too crippled to be called a GeForce4.

I could exchange this card for a GeForce 3 TI 200. What do you guys have to say about that card? Is it a faster better card than what I now have? I'll await your replies and then decide what do.
If I do exchange it, I'll be exchanging it tomorrow. Thanks for your help. sincerely, sx/amiga |

The geforce4 ti 4200 is a better choice.. It's only a bit more expensive than the G4 Mx 460.. and can beat all the geforce3's in most benchmarks.. Especially in next gen games because of it's extra vertex shader and faster mem and core speed.. I probably will get myself a geforce4 ti 4400 or 4600.. A geforce 3 ti 200 is not as fast as a geforce2 ultra but next gen games will benefit from it's extra hardware features.. In older games, the geforce2 ultra is actually faster..

The GF4MX isn't bad at playing most of today's games, but in terms of benchmark programs such as 3Dmark and newer directX games it's slow. The GF4MX doesn't feature a full DirectX8 feature set like the GeForce 3 does. It's still pretty fast in DirectX7 games and Quake 3 and for ePSXe it shouldn't be too bad either. But if you want bragging rights in 3Dmark and want better peformance in future games then it's a bad choice.

Yup... should've gotten that GF Ti 500.
How much did you get that MX for anyway?
