CAD Geforces. Stupidly clocked AGP pro boards. Require 2/3 slots so they can stay cool.

They're professinal OpenGL boards. They're similar to GeForce cards but are more optimized for OpenGL.

He asked about the Quadro, not a FireGL4 board. The quadro isn't clocked much higher than a normal GeForce core. The cores are the same as those found on normal GeForces, so naturally you can modify your board so it becomes a Quadro. The extra functionality of the Quadro is in all GeForce's, just not accessible unless you mod it.

The Quadro does not use an AGP Pro port. It does not require 2/3 slots to stay cool.

There is a feature or two which are not implemented on the GeForce, and no, soldering on the board does not change that.

Hmm? I didn't see anything particularly wrong with what you said, unless I wanted to be really picky.

I think it might have been Tom's hardware.

Well everywhere i look says the core is the same. If you're going to say this isn't true, you really need to find some evidence

The method to mod your Geforce to a Quadro was on the MadOnion.com Forums..

http://discuss.madonion.com/forum/sh...=5&o=0&fpart=1

I did this mod myself, tested some 21.83's in OGL and it stunk, did the Quadro mod and it jumped up dramatically, but when I re-updated to 27.42's the Quadro mod doesnt work (yet) but the score is still the same. It seems only worthwhile if you're using the 21.xx's or earlier.

That's merely the software method, the method i was referring to physically alters the device ID of the board.

It seems for the first time that the new Quadro 4 is the first Quadro to actually have a different piece of silicon than a regular GeForce.

Bleh, don't be silly. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you recover from those mistakes that matters.
