$250 would buy you a pretty phat vid card these days. I don't know about a GF4, but definitely a GF3Ti500.

A GeForce2 Ti, and spend the rest on games.

At least a Geforce3, if not a 4. $250 will buy you a lot of video.

This is better suited to the off-topic hardware forum, since you might get better advice there. I'd suggest using a combination of price guides and hardware review sites to determine which card is most suitable for your needs.

well, if you are an ultra Hardcore gamer, you better get the latest NVIDIA card, or better, you can opt for some of those super expensive, for 3d modeling, 3d boards, that only works with OpenGL, I remember one time I saw at a BYTE magazine a review and I saw one with a "glint chip" or something like that, and it costed amost US$3000!

most games are DirectX tho, so on top of the $3000 for the 'glint chip', u gotta buy another grfx card for all DX applications

Actually dude.. Before you do that, take a look at this article.. The geforce Ti 500 is actually faster than the geforce 4 mx 440... I think the G4 mx's are too crippled.. Either get a geforce 4 ti 4400 or the Mx 460..

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1583

I am planning on getting myself a Geforce4 ti 4600 soon.. I am gonna keep my voodoo 5 and install it on another computer I will be building.. hehe..

You really love that V5 eh fivefeet?

It's true, there's no need of charts to see that the GF3ti500 is faster and cheaper than the GF4MX440, they crippled the chip too much...

That's a crippled version of the original geforce3, it's slower than the geforce2 gts or the ultra versions...

The geforce4 ti 4600 is $399.. The G4 ti 4400 is $299(performs better than either the Geforce3 ti 500 and the Radion 8500).. The G4 ti 4200 is gonna be available in 8 weeks.. It's only gonna be $199.. I would either get this one or the 4400 if I were you.. It performs slightly better than the G3 ti 500.. If your thinking about the G4 mx's then get the mx 460.. It should be about $180 and has similar performance to a Geforce3 ti 200.. But remember the G4 mx's are crippled and benchmarks have proven that they are actually slower than the Geforce3 ti 500 and even the Geforce 3 non ti.. They are even slower than the Radion 8500 in most benchmarks..

Holy lord, that prices are too steep, wait for a month and the prices should drop for the gf3 line.
