Ah, here is where I got the Dual Issue idea. This TR article seems to indicate that Fermi would be able to do dual issue.

Fermi's SM has a full crossbar between the two scheduler/dispatch blocks and these four execution units. Each scheduler/dispatch block can send a warp to any one of the four execution units in a given clock cycle, which makes Fermi a true dual-issue design, unlike GT200's pseudo-dual-issue. The only exception here is when double-precision math is involved, as we'll see.
This doesn't hurt either.

The streaming multiprocessor is dual-issue but the individual components the SP/CUDA cores can only complete a single instruction per cycle at most.

well obviously, since each cuda processor can only execute a single instruction per cycle. however, thats a single cuda processor, the gpu can run multiple instructions at the same time by splitting tasks into cuda clusters/cores.

Nothing new there, its the basis of how the unified shader design kept compatibility with the split pixel/vertex shader designs.

That said, if those are the real prices, we're going to be in for some really nice price cuts.

Estimations I guess, for the top model it seems highly likely though. Of course, it is to be expected ATi will lower their prices by then anyway. Even IF the GT would perform on par with 5870, that one will probably lower towards $200 - $250. ATi will drop their refresh to compete with those models. They'll probably take the performance crown, but that doesn't make you win the market.

Nvidia has already won the market by forcing it to stall long enough to limit 5xxx sales xD

Shortages at webshops say otherwise in my country though.

Those shortages aren't through sales, but by through shipping limitations.

If there wasn't any demand to begin with, there wouldn't have been any shortages either. I seriously doubt nVidia will have a big impact on sales with their recent proclamations about the new series. Not only will the appear next year, but also they lack to emphasize the advantage to the gamer the cards will bring. It's all GPGPU, which although nice, doesn't really sell well right now I think. It lacks the marketing value that a DX11/DDR5 stamp has on an OEM PC.

There's a lot of uncertainty from the green camp right now and they're running behind with both their DDR3, and their DX10. Show these numbers to an unknowing customer who just wants to game and they'll pick the ATi card based on these numbers alone.

To benchmark websites I guess, good luck getting them into stores. Most likely the shortage will drive up the prices even more. But that's all speculation. I hope it will be there by December, as I'm interested in the new stuff it may bring to the PC. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
