Well that depends...if you're not planning on spending some serious $$$ then I would say no...Audiophile headphones cost plenty and I doubt anything that's not Audiophile or that's not 5.1 Surround (once again not the cheapest option but cheaper than true Audiophile headphones) will sound much better than what you currently have.

Also my taste is quite different to yours, I prefer something that's big, robust and therefore usually heavy plus I only like the over-the-head ones so I can't really speak for small light sets...the only small set I have ever had was the Creative HS-350...and I cracked it within a week (snapped the thing in half), so number one for me is how robust the set is, everything else is secondary. I also am not really an audiophile and don't notice too much of a difference between sets as far as Bass and Treble and sound separation goes, other than of course my current main set being Surround Sound.

How did you even manage to break those headphones? They look far more robust than those I have(though these seem to be able to bend quite a bit).

I probably won't end up buying new headphones, since these work just fine and sound nice(FFS, they sound better than my friend's 2.0 speaker set. -_-). Maybe if they break/stop working, I'd consider some surround headphones. Thanks for the response.

I put them on my head and was positioning them for better comfort and next thing I hear a snap, and suddenly the right side feels disembodied so I take it off and the thing is snapped in half....

But yeah I would do the same as you, in fact I did, I never planned on a Surround Sound headset, they just suddenly ended up my only option when my last headset broke and my usual el-cheapo option was unavailable this time around. Same sorta thing for bobrocks, he was just looking for a really robust and comfortable set after his last set broke and the one he got happened to have a great special running making it his best option.

I never ever wear a headset anymore... Last time I had one on my head was at a LAN like 4 years ago. The only time I ever even think about using my headset now, is for voice communication, and then I got the headset around my neck
Since I'm using glasses for the most part that I'm on the computer, every headset I've worn gets really uncomfortable around the ears, since it's pressing my glasses into my skull.
And I've yet to hear a headset that actually sounds good.

Headsets will *hopefully* never (at least in my lifetime) be as good as a decent surround speaker setup.
Especially in regards to bass and surround sound.

That's some ****ty quality...
Unless they're waaaaay too small for your head, they should never break, unless they're ****ty quality

Whilst they weren't too small their fit was a little snug, but I have had even tighter ones (containing far more metal rather than being all plastic like the Creative HS-350) which did not break on me...we at least not in that way.

I too have glasses...and my Cyber Snipa Sonar 5.1 does not bother me one bit, most comfortable headset I have ever had. In fact most headsets that don't sit on the ear (but rather cover it and go around it) I generally find comfortable enough, it's the ones that sit on the ear that hurt.

I agree on that. I have a headset that sits (pushes?) on the ears, and really hurts after some hours. Luckly, I have some nice El-Cheapo Headphones that has comfy cushions that go around the ear. I've used it for too many hours and is still comfy (and sounds a lot better than the more expensive headset).

But yes, at least in this case, the sound doesn't compare with the 5.1. You won't get the "boom" as you get from the subwoofer. But I don't think your ears would like something like that so close either... In any case, it sounds good enough to make me prefer put the headphones on, instead of turning on the 5.1. (or perhaps is just lazyness.... )

Well, that's the beauty of light headphones. The longest I've used my headphones non-stop was around 6 hours. I was expecting my ears to hurt like hell after I took them off. When I did, though, it was as if I had only used normal headphones for half an hour. No pain at all. It did feel weird, but that feeling lasted only for a few seconds.

That's the main reason I don't like the bigger headphones now. I feel like they'd crush my ears, not matter how cushioned they are.

That's why you need to look for those that are rather "big". So the cushion goes around the ear and not on it.
Not only for being comfy, but because it also helps against external noise.

I know. I've had three different headphones(some old Philips ones and two from Sony, one being my current one and the other being one of the bigger sets), and to be honest, the better sounding and more comfortable ones are my current ones. Perhaps I've just had bad luck when picking models or something.

Also the bigger the set is the more robust it usually is. I also like big sets, sure they can be heavy and I am constantly aware of them...but I actually like that, I don't wanna lose myself completely in whatever I am doing. Immersion is nice but I gotta be able to keep track of time and my actual surroundings. And when I say heavy I don't mean uncomfortably heavy, just heavy so that you're constantly aware of them and after you take them off you still feel that they were there for a bit...not in a bad way, more like how you remember how a cap or helmet felt for a few seconds after you take it off.
