Quantum is a good company (I believe they merged with Maxtor into one company now). All my hard drives (my sister's 6 GB and 30 GB drives and my 8.4 GB) are Quantum and I'm quite satisfied with them. Western Digital is a nice brand as well and I've heard of nice things of them. IBM drives are probably among the best in terms of performance (as well as being very quiet) but are more costly.

wow, you can manage to work on a 2GB drive? Isn't that a bit, uh, cramped?

Not really, All I use my computer for is internet, emu's and Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft and a bit of Macromedia Fireworks. I keep all my emu's, roms, music and video clips on the secondary drive. And I don't use ISO's, they are just a waste of space for me.

Wow, I finally found someone with a smaller hd than mine(6GB, 650MB free). But mine is a Fujitsu, and it's slow as hell.

I really like Quantum HDs, they have never given me any major headaches. I also bought recently a 40GB Maxtor, seems to be alright so far.

I don't think much of Fujitsu myself. I have spent 9 months of emailing them in order to get a replacement for a faulty 20gb drive.

My Fujitsu hd has always worked fine, but the performance is horrible. All benchmarks show that it's a low-end hd. It takes ages to load Windows, and also a lot of time to load some games(like UT).

Well, if it's a 5400rpm drive in the first place, I wouldn't really expect much. As long as it does data storage reliably i'm fine with it. I can spare a second or two.

I think it's even lessthan 5400 rpm. It's UDMA33 only, but apart from the speed problem, it works perfectly. But still it takes ages to load anything. Even Internet Explorer is slow when loading.
