Hanns-G is actually a very good brand and is often overlooked by many.
That looks like a very good steal. I have one concern though, its native resolution is 1680x1050, which is all well and good. But the problem is that my crappy HD2400 Pro will start to give way and I don't think any game will remain playable on it. 1024x768 is really the limit. Any more and the fps just drops like flies. But can I run games at a lower resolution, say 1280x720 and still have it cover the whole screen? Cuz if it ends up covering only 19" inches of it then I'd be an idiot for getting a big monitor in the first place.

Thanks for the info btw. If it turns out to be feasable, then I'll grab this ASAP.

Drats! Well....I suppose this it'd be foolish to trash the plan based on just that. It's future-proof. Once I get a new gfx card it'll be just fine.

I'll talk about it with my dad, see what he thinks.

It's a CRT. Case closed.

While it's true that LCDs run best in their native resolution, the Hanns-G line has a good scaler for handling non-native resolutions. Even if it didn't have a good scaler, you don't notice scaling artifacts as much in games as you would on your desktop or some static image that offers little to no movement.

InA! TN panels suck. My Viewsonic has the in-between kind[PA? Whatever it's called..] and I love it. Sure it's slow[something like a 16ms response time] but the colours are excellent. No 240,000 colour dithering ****.

I fully agree with this, my old games look much better than I thought they would even stretched out of proportion.

LG monitors have a 4:3 button to fix the aspect ratios of non-widescreen games. A must-have for any gamer.

Agreed, but I just said that even stretched the games don't look as bad as I thought they would.

Some VA panels aren't too slow (8ms) and still cheaper than IPS.

I have a Belinea (Maxdata) 20" 4:3 8ms PVA, satisfying enough for 400€, but no fancy features.

Discontinued.

The only ones of that kind I can think of now are made by Nec (like the MultiSync LCD2190UXp) and much more expensive.
These things are S-PVA (even better) and were made with photography in mind...

Damn Nec, prices btw 700€/1000€, that's the price for an imported japanese arcade cabinet.
