lol, no. the gpu uses load states to lower the clock rate and power usage when full power isn't required.

I see. If i understand correctly , that means the GPU will dynamically adjusted it's "power" when playing 3D games.

Pretty much yeah, it will only use as much power as is needed.

It is the same when monitoring ur processor, the clock speed will be back to normal once it is needed but, as long as u aren't doing anything, the processor clocks will be lower than what it is to reduce heat and save energy.

Hi,

Just some info on the cpu temp.

I have reduced down the CPU PLL voltage from 1.8 to 1.7, QPI/VTT voltage from 1.4+ to 1.175, and CPU Vcore from 1.4 (or 1.36 not sure) to be 1.2 (or 1.168 not sure). Now the temp during idle is around 41-42. The clock remain unchanged at 3.3GHZ (or 3.4+ as the Extreme mode enabled).

Yup. First time i tested it, the system locked up after around 10mins. Not sure if it has something to do with me still browsing the Internet when doing the test or not.

To be safer, before i started the second test, i increased the CPU voltage from 1.2V to be 1.225V (Idle temp changed from 41-42C to 43-44C, default CPU voltage in the bios is 1.25V).

I ran the second test for 1 hours 7 mins before i stopped it. The highest temp reached was 64C.

p/s I have enabled HT technology.

Here is the pic after i have stopped the test :

You should disable HT though. You will see a great deal of performance increase in applications that are not mulithreaded. It will lower the temps too.

My HT was turned off but i decided to enable it before i did the test.

I will do another test again without HT enabled to see if there is any difference.

Thanks.

Correct. The huge size of the die can take the stress.

But disabling it will only make it faster and give you a higher overclock.
