Hmm...

I heard somewhere that the GeForce 4 MX is an NV17 core... meaning that its guts are about the same as a GeForce 2! I think I'd rather have a GeForce 3 Ti200 for price/performance.

the GeForce4 4400 MX has a NV17 chip (I don't know if the 4400 is a typo @ where I read this, but if it isn't these are 2 different chips, I'm not sure...), but at ne rate, I'd still rather have the GeForce4 4600, it's way better. here are its stats in comparison to some GeForce3's (I already posted this in the GeForce4 thread in this section, but I'll post it again 4 convieniance):

GeForce4 Ti 4600:

Core Speed: 300MHz
Memory Speed: 660MHz
Bandwidth: 10.4GB/sec
Fill Rate: 4.9 billion samples
RAM: 128MB DDR

GeForce3 Ti 500:

Core Speed: 240MHz
Memory Speed: 500MHz
Bandwidth: 8GB/sec
Fill Rate: 3.8 billion samples
RAM: 64MB DDR

GeForce3 Ti 200:

Core Speed: 200MHz
Memory Speed: 460MHz
Bandwidth: 7.4GB/sec
Fill Rate: 3.2 billion samples
RAM: 64MB DDR

i ment if it was free, believe me, I'm not gonna buy it just cuz it's a little faster than my grafix card (mine's more than good enough). heck, there isn't a game out there that takes full advantage of my grafix card (ok, maybe Max Payne, but I still doubt it takes full advantage, but it definately takes more advantage of a GeForce3 than most games). besides, in another couple months they'll come out w/ a better grafix card, and maybe this one will be more than just faster.

Dang! I knew I shouldn't have bought a Voodoo5 in the first place!

When this baby comes out, my GeForce3 is officially toast. I'm gonna get one!!!!!

Aha!

Go read the review in tomshardware about the GF4 MX. It does implement the new memory achitecture of the GF3's, but it doesn't have vertex/pixel sharders. Furthermore, its performance is inferior to a regular GeForce 2 in many tests. This particular chip's branding is a marketing gimmick. The GeForce 4 MX might have a new name slapped on it but it's basically old technology.

I think that that thing is more of a marketing gimmick than u think, I'm not so sure that it even is a GeForce 4 MX (note, its called a GF4MX, not a GeForce 4 MX on the box)

Yeah...

Voodoo cards are quite nice... but GeForce cards are just plain better for price / performance!

Radeon and Voodoo can be nicer than the Generic GeForce 2 or 3 card because they're manufactured by one producer so image quality is crisp. Also, Radeons have a nicer DVD playback engine.

But other than that, GeForces are nothing to scoff at! They have the best drivers and the most complete feature sets.

Not at all. You can get a GeForce2 MX400 for the same price as a Voodoo5. Voodoo5 has twice the memory bandwidth, go figure...

I read in PCGamer that NVidia was planning on making a GeForce4 4400 MX AFTER the release of the GeForce4 4600. there is something fishy about that thing though, i mean, after all, the GeForce4 4600 aren't out yet, and they show an MX (which, let me remind u, isn't supposed to be out b4 the GeForce4 4600) in a box already¿ come on! something stinks...
