Are you 100% sure its not just a broken usb cable. Otherwise I would say its some sort of wireless wifi or bluetooth device.

Yup its a flash drive alright. I found it on a newspaper article, it said:

Quote:
Using USB drives is rather risky when it comes to sensitive information, since they are small and can be stolen or misplaced easily. But this is not the case with Hacked! This new USB drive which looks like a damaged USB cable, complete with dangling, frayed wires, is actually is a 2GB USB drive. Surprised? Yes, now you can place it anywhere because nobody is going to filch this defunct USB, unless someone throws it into the dustbin!

I can see the future... where a geek is going to walk around with a laptop... picking up every single thing he finds with a USB port, and plugging it in his laptop...
*sighs*

The future of computing technology is unimaginable. I think its hard to even peek in 10 years into the future. Who knows, we might have procs as powerful as the 8 cored Nehalems embedded in wrist watches. Believe it or not, really this is theoretically possible if you eliminate the silicon factor in the chips and switch to alternative materials which will allow for even smaller transistors and lower heat outputs.

Better to use "vault" service where 1% of your encrypted files are loaded to server and if someone steals your usb stick they can see just junk in there. Some text files might be readable with few words after many tries
