"HDMI devices are manufactured to adhere to various versions of the specification, where each version is given a number such as 1.0, 1.2, or 1.3a.[15] Each subsequent version of the specification uses the same kind of cable but increases the bandwidth and/or capabilities of what can be transmitted over the cable.[15] For example the previous maximum pixel clock rate of HDMI interface was 165 MHz which was sufficient for supporting 1080p at 60 Hz and WUXGA (1920×1200) at 60 Hz. HDMI 1.3 increased that to 340 MHz which allows for higher resolution, such as WQXGA (2560x1600), across a single digital link.[16] A HDMI connection can either be single link (Type A/C) or dual link (Type B) and can have a video pixel rate of 25 MHz to 340 MHz for a single link connection or 25 MHz to 680 MHz for a dual link connection. Video formats with rates below 25 MHz (e.g., 13.5 MHz for 480i/NTSC) are transmitted using a pixel-repetition scheme.[1]"

Both apparently.

Me again...
Just read something I didn't know - apperantely the two cores I have on my HD4870X2 have not one but two internal connections, each with 10GiBs of bandwidth.
What surprised me was that with the latest driver version (9.4) only one of those connections is operational due to several interface problems...
Thing is that it actually raises a pretty good question - have we really witnessed the full potential of the ATI heavy-weight champion?

Fudzilla - Geforce GTX 285 to be made available for Macs

One of my Apple fanatic friends cried tears of joy when I emailed this to him.

Alternatively you could go with ATi Tray Tools and just the drivers, and forfeit the CCC altogether.

Not really, unless you want advanced speed. But in CCC you can perfectly set the fanspeed with every profile. Of course, it did take them some time to implement it for the 4870 from what I remember.

But you just offered an alternative to running an ATI card without CCC?

.Net's not that bad..if you upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out, you'll have .net 3.5, which is quite decent, and will be able to run a lot of programs for a long time. >.> [/offtopic]

Last I checked, Tray tools was great but didn't work for Vista x64.
I'm waiting for that little issue to be... resolved.

Nhancer 2.5 is built using .net 3.5

ITS FAST. way faster then what 2.0 was.

I think Vista SP2 installs .net 3.5 as well....

Sure, you can set the fanspeed in ATi Tray Tools as well. Why would you need CCC? The only reason why I have it installed is laziness and the fact that I like their video converter.

It can control the fan? when was that feature added? cuz I looked and looked but never saw such an option so I had to resort to using ATITool to raise the deafult fan speed from it's ridiculous 5% on my X850XT.

I'm talking about ATi Tray Tools, a different app than ATiTool, with many more options.

I said I had to resort to using ATITool cuz I could not find anything...and by not find anything I meant I could not find anything in ATI Tray Tools, I ran both apps on my old system, but ATITool was the only one that allowed me fan control.
