That's probably cause as I found out you cannot monitor the temperature...on some of them....

Well to tell you a secret they only integrated temperature sensors from the HD2XXX series (well except for some XT models) so dont bother searching

Oh, it had a temperature sensor, but when I asked the salesguy about it he said it was buggered....

The 9800 GTX+OC/GTS 25000 has been fairing quite a bit better though,
, but then 3 and a half times the cost...

Don't compared a midrange card probably bought towards the end of it's life (thus cheaper) to a midrange card closer to the start of it's life, also don't ignore inflation.
The X1650 was once just as expensive as your card comparatively.

Dude, it's not like I bought it used.....

Doesn't the "life" start the moment you install it and run the first power through it????? And then shouldn't it be guaranteed for a certain number of hours...

and not be defective??????

I should have taken those clowns up on their warrantee and got a replacement...but it wasn't a serious card....

It WAS a serious card granted that was 4 years ago which means it's just about nothing by today's standards, but it was very serious.

Also the life I was referring to was not as long as you had it, but as long as the card was available on the market.

The X1650 was not that far behind, sure many GeForce 7 series cards were better, but the X1650 was far from useless and was very handy. I have been observing PC hardware for the past 6+ years....you only recently go into it and still don't know much, don't start trying to have an argument with me as you will lose as you have nothing but opinions based on Star Trek or something.

Also I recall you saying you used macs a lot in the past...and they break all the rules and conventions of Windows based PCs.

Many people can use PCs, but few have intricate knowledge of all the paticular components that make up the system they are using.

He Flemflamed you, in other words Fooled/misinformed (that or he was a noob) you about the buged part, i pretty much use ATi from the ATi Rage Pro 8 mb SDRAM graphics card(and i also kept myself informed with there progress over the years) so i pretty much know what i'm talking about when referring to ATi(and also i tested & had quite a few of there models). If the card didnt show temperature's even with ATi tray tools then its pretty obvious it didnt had support for one and not even all the XT models had temperature sensors it depended pretty much on the developer.

Ati still leads with the HD4870X2 its only a little bit better than the GTS 295

ok fine the GTS 295 is better but not worth the extra 100 $ only slightly better

and GTX295 does not have directX 10.1 support

Which does not matter as NOTHING uses DX10.1. It's used even less than PhysX, besides cards as strong as the GTX200 series can render DX10 just fine.

Well... nothing uses Dx10 either really... its mostly effects that are completely do-able in Dx9.... when you exclude geometry... which i've seen nothing utilise efficiently yet.

But in the future maybe by the end of this year we will get directx11 so direct x10 would be old and the GTX 295 wont support it and HD4870 single card is just as good as GTX280

The drivers are another problem

I wish Ati had a better driver making team

DX11 will render DX10.1 ATi cards just as useless as nVidia's DX10 cards.
