BIOS and CPU

How do you find what BIOS supports what CPU? I want to swap an Intel for an Intel but I am concerned that the BIOS itself won't support the CPU! I just would like to know if there's a way to tell. :]

Check your motherboard manufacturers website for the BIOS versions and updates. But just figure out what your chipset is. Then just google that chipset and should list all the CPUs it supports.

I did, Gateway is giving me problems; maybe I just can't find it.

Hey, can someone help me? The chipset is GM965 by Intel. Does anyone know what that supports? The MoBo is P-6860FX by Gateway. I just can't figure it out!

Is this a notebook or something because whenever I open a page related to it, it says that this is a great laptop. Are you sure you got the motherboard model no exactly right

Seems like it's a notebook. It's also using the T5xxx model CPUs, which are socket M types. You'll need to pick a CPU with the exact same socket type. Flashing the BIOS to its latest official revision should make it so that you can run the latest CPU in that socket.

And most of the time, updating the CPU in a notebook is pointless... to say the least. If you need a faster one, you should just buy a different one.
