It's a decent laptop, but for the same specs, I could get an Asus one a lot cheaper Especially if it's mainly used for gaming.

well its a laptop, hard drives for laptop isn't so cheap >.<. another reason its cost a lot because they come multi-touch mouse pad, blue tooth integrated, tilt sensor, and light sensors. also light up keyboard, probably a lot of thing is crammed on this laptop i probably don't even know about it yet because compact stuff cost a lot even cell phones cost more then a desktop pc XD that's one of the reason why it cost so much.

Meh, I have a friend who has an Asus G1 and a friend with the Mac Book Pro. The G1 has everything the Mac has (except the OS obviously). Almost identical CPU and GPU, hard drive, bluetooth, WiFi etc... and yes, even a keyboard that lights up And he paid hundreds less.

Like I said, it's a nice laptop, but price/performance wise, there are better choices out there. Like their Ipods, there are just better value MP3 players out there

my mac is silent, it has the power i need. The display offers excellent quality, the sounds peripherials have a quality which i havn't seen with pc notebooks. It runs wc3 and starcraft , i love it :P

And gaming is for sure not the MAIN Aspect for getting a notebook. Its mobility , usability with certain comfort.

Hmm... wanna know what my EeePC can run? Wanna know how small it is? And most of all, wanna know how much it costs me?

While I believe that Mac OSX is so much better than the mess that is Windows, I disagree that a Mac is the best value for your money.

I have a macbook.

I enjoy my macbook because it turns heads and I like the trackpad better than the average PC laptop, and I like the fact that I can install windows on it.

With all that said, everything else is completely wrong with Macbooks. They can basically do what an EeePC can do. Price/performance wise, the macbook pros are so ridiculously overpriced its sick.

But if you have the money, the 1800 dollar model of the macbook pro is nice

Apple doesn't want it to.

Apple makes OS X, and they have no obligation to make it run on platforms outside of their own. As a hardware company, they make their profit on Macbook Pros and iPods and iMacs, not OS X. Besides, OS X currently is tweaked specifically for Macs, and the Intel Macs especially have a very narrow range of hardware, making them easy to support.

I bought a Macbook Pro a few months ago. It's nice, but the "wow" factor wore off and I don't use it much these days. I tried doing like the OP and using the Mac for everything but games, but I realized that everything I was doing on the Mac that wasn't a game, I could do on my Vista laptop anyway.

well you can because people hacked mac os x to install on regular pc, but sometimes when you install mac os x you probably have to go on the internet to get certain drivers to order get it working properly. also only mac os x 10.5.2 and up supports video cards over 256mb of ram so.

there is no difference, but the only difference is the bios. but the reason why you might need to find the drivers which is made by hackers is because apple choose their hardware and only make drivers for those selected drivers to keep the OS more stable.

No kidding. Big books like that to do simple work or school stuff just doesn't appeal to many people nowadays. I know I'm not. After using my 15.4" for a couple years, I feel like downgrading. I guess there's a reason why super portable laptops, like the Asus EEE, is becoming so popular. They can do pretty much anything you need on the go and super compact.

except, the new EEE prices skyrocketed to like, 650 USD i think, which is rediculous for the power it has.
