Games are pointless...even back when the OpenGL support was crappy they were rendering perfectly....then again so were OGL demos...

where's that thread again where we were discussing Catalyst's OGL support...

*goes searching*

ATI/OGL driver issue

mudlord: if you have any OGL apps in mind that you want to test, list them out. I'll test them for you.

Umm, the Medal of Honor series? ID Software games? And that OpenGL problem aren't in PC games. They are more specific ones like OpenGL plugins for emulators, and I've never experienced them either....
They don't have issues?

Okay:

* Lightwave (the 3D renderer app)
* "Lifeforce" by ASD
* "Frameskool" by Equinox
* "Outlined" by Orb
* "Kings of the Playground" by Equinox
* "Iconoclast" by ASD

Is there some sort of small OGL demo app you would like me to test?
Closest thing to test is Glide64 Napalm. If it runs that well, I will get the ATI 4850, since that exposed many driver issues in the past like:

* Lack of modulo support in GLSL shaders
* NPOT texture support issues
* Issues with certain texture formats, causing a slowdown by 50%

Out of all of those demos, only "Lifeforce" won't run and it won't give any error either. All of the others run fine. I'll go back to Windows XP and see if it's a Vista issue. Hell... even 3DMark06 won't run on Vista after I installed the HD 4850.

P.S.: Which emulator should Glide64 Napalm be used with? I'll test that one as well.

runawayprisoner : Have you installed the hotfix? I think it might need it cause it's a newer video card.

Futuremark - Download - 3DMark06/05/03 & PCMark05 Hotfix

Doesn't sound good....

Lifeforce is a really good OpenGL demo, as it uses plenty of OpenGL 2.0 functions, and it uses shaders as well.....And some points really tax the video card, like the bathroom and nuclear bomb scene....

Hmm... Glide64 Napalm works flawlessly with the hotfix drivers on Windows XP. Here's a shot of your GL test:

Games tested:

Super Mario 64
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Goldeneye 007

Supposedly... the only problem I have ever encountered is with Goldeneye 007's intro freezing. The rest works flawlessly. No slowdown or anything whatsoever.

ePSXe 1.7 with Pete's OpenGL2 2.09 also works flawlessly, though I don't suppose Pete's OpenGL2 uses OpenGL 2.0 at all?

Looks like ATI/AMD fixed the NPOT textures issue! Nice!

Hmmmz. Oh well, PD > GE

Looks like then the ATI driver standards are getting better at least, which is good

MOH has issues due to the Extension Limit being set to 4520, its a fault in the Sedona CP, user nhancer to override the extension limit to 11a8.

4520 = 17696
11A8 = 4520

NPOT is still not supported, its software emulated leading to a slowdown of 50%+ for an app that requires it. (you'll find one driver will have it enabled, while the next doesn't, and it'll repeat in a pattern)
ATI still has issues with OGL texture sizes,

and the ati driver at random breaks opengl.

Crap, there goes me giving ATI a second chance with OpenGL....and buying the card.

Least the processor works like a charm, heck I found a E2220 overclocks like crazy on stock fans (managed to get from 2.4Ghz to 2.9Ghz stable :P)
