Who cares now? Besides, reports are in for possible overclocking locks (no work-around) for LGA1160. I think I've heard enough. I'm stocking up on LGA775 stuffs by the end of this year.

Edit: O ****... it's true. It's not because they want to do it, it's just because they want it to be more convenient. In the end, the side effect is... budget platforms may no longer be overclocked, even by 1MHz higher or lower than stock settings. Intel is dedicating a whole platform for the enthusiast market, though.

So good news: we can still overclock. Bad news: It just got more expensive.

Re-read what I edited out, please...

I may not have to stock up. But it just means that I won't be able to get the most out of your budget money for you anymore. $1000 for an overclockable Nehalem chip might happen...

Um... but it's not a Nehalem. And just to let you know, I can get QX9650 chips for $500-600 each... but thing is, they're good for almost nothing for the average user, which I'm kind of one. If you want that kind of performance, wait for another month or so. Q9650 is coming. And the first retail units may go for $649.99 or even $699.99, but they'll settle down for $549.99 soon. Q9450 will also be around $249.99 - $299.99 by that time, while Q9550 will be $449.99 - $499.99. If you ask, Q9300 won't go much lower than $249.99, and Q6600 may literally be around $100 - 120 on eBay. E8400 might also go down to $169.99, and E8500 might go down to $249.99. Let's just say... it's a seller's hunch.

P.S.: And we just had a $139.99 E8400 sale yesterday, anyway. Seems like someone anticipated the price drop a bit sooner than I expected.
