help regarding tvout

I was using Svideo out on my 8600GT and it was working ok except for the fact that there were no colours. After trying all the modes component/composite/svideo and all pal/ntsc modes I decided to upgrade to latest nvidia drivers.

Now windows xp doesnt show up after the loading screen when using tvout. I can still boot into safe mode/vga mode using tvout (and it shows up) but it doesnt work in normal mode. I connected my monitor and it boots fine. I enabled force tv detection but it dint help. I switched back to older drivers and it dint help either. I checked resolutions/refresh rates to make sure they are supported by the TV. Any idea how to get tvout working again?

tv-out with nVidia has always been a pain to get set up correctly.

you really just have to play around with it and try various settings.

the TV should be On when you start you PC as well..

if you can't get it to work, try uninstalling your drivers, and reinstalling them.

also, the black-and-white TV is a common problem.
you got to set it to RGB color i believe to get it working in color.
or something like that...

if you do some searches on google or the nVidia website, they have some articles about TV-out and how to set it up.

No colours? Might've been just a loose end somewhere. Tried jiggling the cable on both ends?

I can live with no colours, real problem right now is as soon as I install nvidia drivers (new or old) I cant see anything after windows loading screen. If I dont install drivers or use safe mode/vga mode it shows up.

well at least you know it must be a driver problem then, and not a hardware problem since it works in safemode.

so you already tried the "forced tv detect" mode? :O

don't really use tvout myself, but inbetween the pal and ntsc modes are usually sub modes, like M, B, G, N, etc, and one TV might support M but not N.

the drivers initialise the output depended on the hardware attached.

if a VGA device is attached, it will be the main device until windows has loaded and secondary connections are enabled.

If there is only a tv attached, then it is the primary device.

Have you installed the new drivers after Driversweeping off the old ones?

Yep, tried the newest drivers after using guru3d driver sweeper tool. Looks like I will need a monitor for sometime, use it to switch to clone mode and then it may work even without monitor.

Have you tried letting the pc boot without a display attached, and then plugging in the tv afterwards?
