Overclocking help

I've been trying to see if I can overclock my CPU in any way, but I can't do it from the BIOS or find OC software that's able to do it.

I feel like I'm trying to do the impossible. Am I?

Dont overclock laptops, unless you like the idea of never using it again.

That's about what I was thinking, but I wanted to try anyway.

It looks like AMD locked the maximum multiplier on the cores, anyhow, and I have no way to change it.

Eh, it's alright. I only wanted it for PCSX2 seeing as how the CPU is the apparent bottleneck. I'm still running the games I want to play at least at 30 FPS so I'm not too worried.

Go ahead and close the thread when you see fit.

Well if you live in a freezer, then an O'CD laptop would make a good hand warmer

Which would fry first if I were somehow able to OC the CPU? AMD says the CPU can take up to 95° C. It must be the damn mobo... ><

Well it wouldent fry.....it would throttle down to protect itself. you would have to disable this feature to overclock. First things first though, is your Laptop OEM? As in off the shelf?

Oh that's right, it would slow down first. ><

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A215. I bought it at Best Buy in January and haven't touched it since then, if that's what you're asking.

Well that's crashed your party right there. Most OEM desktops do not allow overclocking, let alone laptops. (Its a combined idiot proof liabilty issue.)

They disable all tweaking features in the bios.

Only rare cases such as hp's blackbird series and select alienware and aviators allow overclocking (these are 3-$4000 comps)

I'll admit that I was hopeful, at best. I don't really care in the end, though.

Oh, I've played with that and don't remember ever finding any problems (aside from the FFIX thing at Dali that's easily worked around). I need to remind myself to get back to FFVIII at some point.

But we're digressing. Is there any need to keep this open?

Last tip before close...... The current AMD processor's limit in temperatures are in the 65 degrees celsius range. If they go higher, the chances of crashing a quite higher now.
