to be honest if i was you, id pick up an 8800GT, it performs better than the 9600GT and costs roughly the same, n itll stick kick the butt off your 8600.
The 9 series cards are pretty much a waste of money, rumors of some of them just being rebranded 8 series cards to get more money out of consumers.

The 8800GT in the same region price would be this one
8800GT 512MB DDR3 256 BIT Core Clock Speed 700MHZ Stream Processors 112 Memory Clock Speed 2080MHZIs this rally stronger than that 9600GT 1024MB DDR3 I gues i wait and see what others have to say |

hmm, i didn't know there was a 1024mb 9600GT out.
i would probably get that instead of the 8800GT because the 512mb starts limiting you in games with big textures like Crysis. but the 9600 has less stream processors i believe... i don't remember though... anyways, both the 8800 and 9600 are good cards

i'm thinking a 9600GT 1024MB will out preform a 8800GT in crysis. Runawayprisoner's 512mb 9600GT gets similar performance to his 512mb 8800GTS, which is a more powerful card than the 8800GT.

Well, those comments didn't see the card coupled with a 45nm quad... running Crysis on Very High... and all that.
nVidia's latest drivers haven't really made any wake-up calls... as far as I can see.

![]() Just because the 9600 got a boost, doesnt mean the g92 8800s didn't ![]() Oh, also, @RAP hows the 9800GTX doing so far? Does it OC well?

But I'm getting a 9800GTX to replace the 9600GT, so I could care less! (And yay for eVGA step-up!)

)there will be a simultaneus launch of the 9800gt and 9900gtx the 9800gt will be a cheaper 55nm 9800gtx with an architecture called g92b and the 9900gtx will be a 65nm card on the new gt200 cores I believe the codename is d10u-30 for the g200 chips in the test cards, and gt200-300 for the beta samples of them i'll need to ask some people to make sure, but a late q2 release is planned |

Well yeah... we heard enough things about 9800GX2 and 9800GTX. I'm not the kind that would wait another two months for a potentially more expensive card that wouldn't really get much more done.
Verdict? I'm tired of switching around with nVidia flagships. But IF they really can push out a good card then I'm willing to shell out another $300 to trade my 9800GTX in... and that is IF they are really that good. I highly doubt it, though. It could be like 2-3 fps in Crysis and 500-1000 more points in 3DMark06 or something, but what about the price? The... priiiiccceee...? I don't need to remind you how much a 9800GX2 costs... do I?Edit: And rumors got to G200, then down to G100, and the last I heard was that the new ones won't be G100 but would be G102 instead, and then just yesterday, I got confirmation that they wouldn't even be G102! And this kind of reminds me of the 8900GTX and 8900GX2 rumors. They turned out to be 9800GTX and 9800GX2 instead. (8 switched with 9)I think these rumors are more like... fanboys' wishes for nVidia to release something really ground-breaking... something that can handle Crysis at insane settings or something. But I face it and I know: a 9800GTX volt-modded and overclocked under water-cooling would be waaaay too extreme already.

we're talking about a card that could push 19 by 12 in crysis maxed with 16 AA I'm getting 2 ![]() the 4870 will be out in june too, the price differences shouldn't be too big compared to current gen so it would be a waste to not wait and save up
