What the !#$@!?!?!

I have overclocked my cpu successfully(or what i thought was) to 2.915 i think the total outcome was. I made the fsb go to 1300(i liked the number) and i changed the core voltage to 1.45 and the ram voltage to 2.0 as someone here said in another threadand a couple other voltages, Cpu vtt(whatever that is) and some NB voltage (when i raised that a little i got to go to 2.7 safely, wasnt able to before) and i got it all set and running. And Resident evil 4 was running fairly slowly for some reason, at like 40-45 fps avg, and i usually get 50-full and i look at cpu-z and it is saying that the cpu is 1.95ghz with the multiplyer to 6X when in bios its 9X. But if you keep watching the box that tells you the speed you can see the 1 in 1.95 cnage to a 2 for a quick sec. i dont know...

And another thing, i may be pulling too much power from my psu, figured i'd get an obvious opinion. With the high voltages and all that, that i have set, and when playing pcsx2 that draws the most power you can see all my led fans(5 of them) and all my lights kinda blinking. I dont know, and when i took of my side with 3 fans on it it was alright and didnt blink...

when i built my bro's PC w/ a nVidia mobo, i saw a glitch were the multi changes to 6x for no reason...
go back in your bios, and make sure its at 9x.

also, turn off any powersaving features.
they slow down the chip speed in order to use less power.

That's not a glitch. That's C1E and SpeedStep kicking in. It's a feature to reduce the stress on your CPU while it's idling, and it allows for cooler temp + lower CPU volt. In AMD CPUs, it's called Cool 'n' Quiet.

Many CPU's now have some weird power saving mode now; QX goes down to 2.4Ghz at idle for power saving too.

nah it was a glitch.
cuz then when i went into the bios again, it said some retarded multi, i think it said 14x multi!

so i just ran the "Set to Default" option in the bios, and it fixed the problem.
but i have no idea how it reported those bogus multis

this was with a EVGA 680i mobo btw :O

Yep. BIOS settings are sometimes confusing. With a locked multi CPU, you may be able to set up to 20x, but the highest it'll go to is its max multi. More recent motherboards have this problem fixed... but the BIOS is still so confusing, anyway. I can actually key in 25x on my motherboard, and it'll report max at 6 when the CPU supports 8x actually.

thats weird...
anyways, the stupid thing is that i had set it to 9x, and then when i restarted and checked again in the bios, it switched to 14x...

on the two AMD pcs i built, i never got that problem...
the multi always recorded correctly..

Um... did the CPU support 9x? Just out of curiosity.

Ouch... then I am beat. Seems like it's really a board glitch. Quad processors are just that picky... (hence why nForce 6 series only support up to 45nm dual) Here's admitting defeat!
