Voodoo's were the best cards in those years. I mean... if you are going to play pre-95 games. 95-98 games would do well with TNT2, and 98 games and beyond just like GeForce 2 and Radeon 7xxx cards.

what do u think of this..

Newegg.com - BIOSTAR VP5200SL16 GeForce FX 5200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Low Profile Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics

the fx 5200 is a low end card from about 2005, but isnt it like major overkill for any windows 98 game at any resolution? its AGP and supports win98

It might have compatibility issues with some games. Actually, even a GeForce 4 MX might have issues... for instance, with FF7 or FF8.

yeah its a pretty decent card. More than enough for games that support direct x. If you want a Glide capable card you'll need a 3dfx card.

:edit: true, i've never been able to get my athlon 1200mhz + geforce 4200ti working properly with FF7 , though i just suspect it is a windows XP issue and not so much a hardware incompatability issue.

You need a TNT2... or something below it. for that one game... D:

Edit: And... even MGS2 PC, which was released in like... 2001-2002 (?) had issues with cards past Radeon 8xxx and GeForce 4 series. It only worked when... a certain "some kid" discovered a way to hex edit the 2.0 patch... by accident. (Because he was into hex editing GBA games back then) I bet you won't believe who that little prick was.

Hmm... TNT2. I can't find anything that would work as good as that one for games older than 95... and newer than 97. Of course, I have that card.

No I actually had my 32mb tnt2 agp card installed in the comp before getting the 4200ti with Windows me installed and the game wouldn't run and would constantly crash. But in this case i think it was a Windows ME problem.

Windows 98 SE is recommended for FF7. But really... I once had a perfect FF7 and FF8 PC computer. Celeron 500MHz, 128MB of SDRAM, Trident3D VGA adapter (onboard) with 8MB of VRAM and everything...
Gee... little stupid me did not know how valuable that rig was. It could run FF7, FF8 and all other games before those games flawlessly... without lags or anything... at highest settings!

I have a spare GeForce 2 MX 400 and Diamond Viper 64MB lying in my desk

Kept them just for the memories, but I'm pretty sure they still work

Athlon Xp 1800+
Geofrce 4 Ti or Radeon 9700/9500 Pro
256 Ram ( for Win98 dunno if u want to go higher)

does this sound about right?
That PC is more powerful than the PC I am using
I got an

AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.33GHZ
Geforce2 mx 100/200
256mb ram.

So uhmm wanna trade?

Both the GeForce 2 and the TNT2 are legendary when it comes to graphics cards.

If you could find either of those that would be perfect methinks and RAP seems to agree at least on the TNT2 so it must be true.
