Hop to our hardware section or just google overclocking guide in Google. Plenty of guides out there.

Overclocking is not some magical fix-all solution for any and all speed problems....

First of all what is your CPU? do you have adequate airflow and cooling? What are the rest of your specs like? Which emulator? Which game?

You need to consider all of this if you don't want to possibly destory your entire PC pointlessly.

Um... and by the way, "destory"-ing your PC means that... its story has been ended, or erased, however you want to put in. Literally... it means you won't be able to use it for anything at all. If you need extra speed, upgrading your computer is always more recommended than overclocking it. Unless you are at the bottom line of upgrading.

its pretty hard to "destroy" your PC from overclocking, unless you completely don't know what you're doing.

yeah you should overclock.
that processor is a good overclocker.
you can probably hit ~3.6Ghz.
but you're going to have to read-up on how to overclock, and make sure you have good temps.

as your god i will answer your prayer.
hes most-likely trying to run PCSX2, which runs slow even on that rig.

you shouldn't take back your PC;
the fastest chips out are only at 3ghz, you have to overclock them if you want them to go faster.

i don't know any good sites for overclocking; all i did was google a few terms, and then read infomation from various sites.
after that i knew enough to overclock my system.
its not that hard, you just have to read alot to know what you're doing.

I could be wrong but from what i know of pcsx2 its more cpu intensive. Updating the graphics card might help a little but given the cost of those cards a new processor/MB would probably be a better option. Liquid cooling system could help too as it would allow for some pretty sweet overclocking.

it depends on the game, and that CPU is more than enough for PCSX2 :]
and seriously, your GPU is your bottleneck for your comp
Also, there is no point for liquid for PCSX2 LOL...
Last but not least, if your mobo can take a quad core CPU, then it's already a decent mobo...

E8400 @ 4GHz is still not enough (or if it is, it's barely) for PCSX2... I wonder how many times I've said that...

Yes, there is some point to liquid! 4.5GHz on a E8400 or E8500 or E3110 is what you want if you want all games to run at at least full speed.

Actually, I have some $30 mobos that can take a quad... but they can't overclock for the love of god!

IMHO, for PCSX2 at full speed, anything short of a 3.6GHz Core processor with less than 2 cores is just too... weak. Sincerely, we need a lot more CPU power than we think... in some games (if not most of them).

what do you need those stats for?
only for Crysis and PCSX2 lol,
At the end it's just a waste of hundreds of dollars for single digit fps gain...
and there is NO CPU ON EARTH that can run all games at full speed on PCSX2, howmany times do we all need to stress that

and what do you want above Q6700? back to duo core is downgrading for future gaming, Q9450 is probably not worth the switch consider new CPU will come out again.
So that only leaves the Qx left...
and a 'decent overclocking' mobo is another $200 to $300 lol

I'd bet that a QX9650 or QX9770 at 5GHz can run ALL games full speed.

And it's not just a single digit fps gain. There's a big difference between 150 and 200fps, you know.
