When you get your QX9650 and you clock it to over 4.2GHz, you'll see how much of a difference it gives.

E8400 is currently at $200 and a E6600 is currently at $120-150. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's hardly $100. And I don't even think anything short of an E6600 clocked to over 3.5GHz can do 150+ fps in PCSX2. Oh... and I don't think PLAYABLE and ENJOYABLE are the same thing. Heck... if it's playable, I don't even need more than a Pentium 4 to run the game, no? ![]() Quote:

he ALREADY has a Q6700, so you cannot deduct the price of Q6700 onto the E8400, if he resells that CPU on ebay, that thing will be a lot cheaper since it has no warranty and it is used.
You can play the playable games already with Q6700; slow games are still slow because of coding difficulties and graphic bottlenecks , and unplayable games are still...unplayable...

Some games would run faster on Vista and some others would run faster on XP.
I know that sounds weird... but try Clock Tower 3 for example. Fully playable and enjoyable in Windows Vista, and it runs like 2-3fps under XP with both SP2 and SP3. ![]() The Q6700 can still be sold for at least $200, guaranteed. He can then buy a brand new E8400 with that.

It's not dependent on CPU then
![]() and quad core is better than duo core in various applications those utilize four core, so E8400 will just be a 'down grading', unless he only uses two cores applications. and seriously, he should save money for a better graphic card than that 8500GT instead of a new mobo and what so ever on CPU.

Well, if he wants quad, he can still get a Q9450 for $50 more if he can sell his Q6700 for $250.
Sincerely, $250 is the bare minimum I'm seeing Q6700 being sold on eBay.But I agree... he needs a complete system overhaul. And I hope I can be the one to "help."
