Well... I suppose this makes the 8600GT obsolete. Decent replacement I suppose.

geeze, these 9 series cards are pathetic. they're basically 8 series remakes.

9600GT is not an 8 series card...
If only they'd made a version of it with 128 SPs... or even 96 SPs would do better than 64! Only 64 and the card performs almost on par with a 128 SP G92!

hey that sounds awsome! you know, if they put actual names to there products, they would sell better. same goes for cars. A Mazda "Miata" sold better then the new Mazda "MX5"

If I recall your scores got raped by mine and my card has a 112 SP. (And you have a much better CPU then me though I have no idea if you had the xeon during those tests).

Your card

Average FPS: 52

1280 x 1024:
Max FPS: 45
Min FPS: 30
Average FPS: 36
My Card

Max FPS: 76.81
Min FPS: 38.59
Average FPS: 58.74

1280 x 1024:

Min FPS: 37.54
Average FPS: 47.19
In shader extensive games, especially when the res is pumped up, the 9600GT falls behind.

As for the renaming, how lame, but you cant really blame them, as long as theres no price hike, who really cares, my feelings from the start have been the 8800GT/S should have been marketed at G9 cards.

Your overclock was higher, for starter. But I was comparing my 8800GTS G92 and my 9600GT, and on the same test bed, the OCed 9600GT can easily exceed the 8800GTS at stock. Of course your card would do better when it's overclocked, but that doesn't mean that with the same clocks, the 9600GT cannot do as good as yours. My core clock stopped at 730MHz, for starters. I'd love to see a 128 SP G94 just to see how much better it'll be.
