for intel, the 6 series will be soon obsolete
the 8 series has lower retail and faster speed

considering this, I would put the e7200 as low, e8200 as mid and e8500 as high end

but the e8400 is the sweet spot for dual core and the q9450 for quad core

For me:

Poor man's ranks:
Budget: Celeron, Celeron E1xxx
Mid-end: E2xxx
Hi-end: E4xxx
Enthusiast: E6xxx

Businessman's and casual user's ranks:
Budget: E2xxx
Mid-end: E4xxx
Hi-end: E6xxx
Enthusiast: Q6xxx

Gamer's ranks:
Budget: E4xxx
Mid-end: E6xxx
Hi-end: Q6xxx, E8xxx
Enthusiast: Q9xxx

Extreme user's ranks:
Budget: E6xxx
Mid-end: Q6xxx, E8xxx
Hi-end: Q9xxx, QX6xxx
Enthusiast: QX9xxx

I would be in the last group...

Edit: Or if you meant clock speeds:

Budget: 1.5GHz - 2.4GHz
Low-end: 2.4GHz - 2.8GHz
Mid-end: 2.8GHz - 3.2GHz
Hi-end: 3.2GHz - 3.6GHz
Enthusiast: 4GHz+

My CPU can clock above 4Ghz with no prob XD, but I'm still waiting on my case and other stuff to arrive =_=

E2xxx = low
E4xxx,E6xxx = mid
E8xxx, Q6xxx = nid-high
Q8xxx = high
QXxxx = Zealous/intensive work
Dual Xeon = Professional work (ranges from low to ultra high again, with price from $400 to $4000 for two CPUs lol)

Actually, I hope you won't have to come up here to ask about that. Mmm... there's a reason why I didn't get the QX9650, although I can get one for $500.

4.0 Ghz is average for it (Alienware even sells factory OC ones @ 4.0Ghz)
You can even hit 4.5 on air

and Super cooling = lol
Finally sub 8s spi1M... 6ghz valid, 8m43s 32M - XtremeSystems Forums

I know 4.0GHz is average. But then... wouldn't it be better to get a Q9450... and pour that extra $500 towards an even better graphics card, sir?

By the way, talking about graphics... where are those concept pieces????

I'm going to hack into your computer and expose your man pr0n to the world if you don't show them soon enough!

And anyway, back on topic: 4GHz dual-core is normal now. Actually, 4.2GHz is becoming quite normal as well... assuming you have the cooling for it.

Man pp..ppp...pr0n?! O..O

I hope my CPU cooler can cool it down enough; I think it might be able to cool down the NB as well, since it's gigantic...

Or install the Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II over your NB. I swear that after you do that, you won't have to worry about temps anymore.

Edit: And yes... man pr0n...
