New MotherBoard

I want to get a new motherboard primarily for gaming during the summer hols.
I've Got around 300$ to splash. So can anyone suggest me a good board?. Im willing 2 wait so if there are new boards releasing in a month or so tell me. My ram type is DDR2. Is X48 DDR3-only or does some vendor support DDR2? Thanks in adance.
P.S. I dont mind NVIDIA chipset based boards.
