Depends on the usage. The PS3 destroys any modern PC on Folding, for example. There are certain tasks the Cell processor is much better suited for. The military has stocked up on PS3, so have many medical researchers.

a PC is designed to run various applications, while the ps3 was designed specifically for games.

you can't really compare the 2.

in some aspects the ps3 pwns PCs, just because of it's architecture.

I know....the PS3 is propiertary.......but it comes a point where some PC's wil simply win out through sheer power. look at emulation. a 5.8ghz cpu will run most games on a Ps2 emulater at far above average speeds

the tv is the display....the picture wont look its best if your tv upconverts it. internal converting is the best

Keep in mind most HD tvs have less than stellar image quality when displaying standard def since they are going of native resolution. (a limitation of the technology particularily LCD Displays).

When I hook my $700 NEC computer-monitor/HDTV up to my ps2 the IQ is utter crap since its an awkward non-native scaled resolution.

ps3 has a "Smooth" option, that can help with ps2 games.
it still looks like crap on an HDTV, but on a standard tv, i assume it would look better than a regular ps2 playing the game.
i havn't tried it on a standard tv though.. so i'm only basing this from my results on playing ps2 games on my HDTV on my PS3.

and HDTV's don't have good built-in upscalers.
my TV cost me over $2000 and standard definition tv looks like ****.

nah, i had Samsung's top-end model last year.

i think its better than a sony XBR, but a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

contrast ratios on the XBR were rated at 8,000:1, and on my tv they're 15,000:1

my brother tells me though, that samsung's latest models pwn my TV now.
he might get one, but they cost over $3000.

i think only bestbuys sold the ln-t4066F

the 4065F is the same, but with the speakers on the side of the TV.

and the 4060F only has a contrast ratio of 10000:1, but is like $400 cheaper.


how can you get such a good deal on TVs?
you work at sears?


and btw, i'm sure the price has droped a couple hundred bucks since i bought it about 6 months ago...

anyways manufacturer quoted contrast ratios are all skewed and not reliable. Just like refresh rates. HOw much of a skew depends on manufaturer and model and much time spent researching on the internet.

Just wait until Long lasting cheap OLED displays hit the market in several years. 1million :1 contrast ratios, 100 times faster refresh rates than current LCD tech, insane viewing angles, very low power consumption, the blackest black levels and 3 millimeter thick displays.

hey, i know the PMT (Repair) guy at sears....when blu rays used to cost 1000, he gave my coworker one for 200.

A 46 inch samsung went for $900....it was origanally $2,680


and most of the stuff is brand new. if the customer brings it back unused but with an open box, it goes to PMT

The pmt guy is saving a select track bowflex dumbell wieght system for me....im getting it for only 80, and it origanally costs $399

whenever i get a part-time job, i never get any good deals at the places i work at.


one of my coworkers when i was a valet, told me a good secret.
he said the best way to get a good deal on a big screen TV, is to wait for a big game like the superBowl.
and then people buy big TVs, and then return them the following week.
and then you goto the store the following week, and just get a used TV; but you know nothing is wrong with it, cuz it was just used for the superBowl.
i've never done that though...
